Since 1910 Strandhotellet Gl. Skagen has stood between the dunes, sheltered from the North Sea’s unpredictable might. The hotel is situated in the heart of Gl. Skagen, which for generations has been the scene for thousands of unforgettable holiday experiences.
Strandhotellet Gl. Skagen is truly special because its owners have always protected the old buildings and have regularly renovated the seaside hotel with great respect for its historical background. Many of our guests describe their visit to the hotel as being timeless; a charming pocket of time where the modern conveniences of the present are also available.
Our neighbour and sister hotel, Ruths Hotel, houses Ruths Wellness which guests at Strandhotellet Gl. Skagen can use. If you have taken your car to Gl. Skagen, you can also use our secure underground parking free of charge.

Gl. Skagen all year round
Anyone who has had the pleasure of visiting Gl. Skagen knows that the town is a unique spot on the Danish map. Throughout its history, the town has existed in harmony with nature. The yellow fishermen’s houses with their red tiled roofs, positioned appreciatively in the rustic landscape, create a whole that must be experienced and sensed. When you open the door and step out of Strandhotellet Gl. Skagen, you find yourself in the middle of the area’s unique nature, which invites you for walks in the lyme grass of the dunes, to relax on the wonderful beaches, or at the “sunset place”, just 100 metres from the hotel.
If you would like to see everything from the water, you can embark on a great experience and take a ride on our cutter, Oke. All summer long, Oke takes guests from Strandhotellet Gl. Skagen and from Ruths Hotel on a weekly sunset trip. The cutter can also be rented out for special cruises - for example to Hirsholmene, with or without a musician.
At Strandhotellet Gl. Skagen the doors are open all year round for the many bathers in summer, the nature lovers in autumn, the conference guests in winter, and those who love life in spring. Everyone feels at home in the town and at the hotel. They leave here a little bit richer, and, in most cases, they leave a little bit of themselves behind.
